What did we do well?
- Learned about NetworkX and Cytoscape.
- Was able to learn Quadrigra.
- Vogon: All information required to complete stories was available from Django tutorial.
- We have no problems.
- Python tutorials worked well.
- Easy to get started on project, get stories done.
- Java tutorials worked well.
- Pair programming worked well!
- The tickets were wonderful.
What should we have done better?
- Tutorials + instruction:
- More instruction on git and pull requests, and in particular about our workflow. When to do pull request, etc.
- Add external links, additional readings, to Spring tutorials.
- Add a troubleshooting page to tutorial. More information about known issues.
- Python tutorials and exercises: Need more introduction to techniques and concepts needed to complete exercises; smaller steps!!
More instructions on Quadriga environment setup. Specifically about granting privileges on database.
Talk more about "big picture". Spend more time talking about stories before we start the sprint.
- We could do more to bring people up to speed on Python.
- Add VPN to installation/environment setup instructions.
- Be clearer about getting environment set up in first two weeks of class.
- Would be nice to have more documentation on Vogon user model. Would help in understanding stories.
- Don't update your system in the middle of the semester.
- Don't have Windows.
- Better stories:
- Stories could have much more detail. More than two-line description.
- Julia needs to write correct tickets.
- Make comments on Confluence pages! And other things. You can comment on everything. Keep track of known issues.
- Mockups need better font size.
- Read log messages and console output.
- Record the lectures on Wednesdays.
