Merging Records
"Merging" records means combining two or more records into a single "parent" record. All of the relations from the "child" records will be transferred to the "parent". Merging is currently supported for person and location records, and will be added for additional record types in the future.
Note that this action does not create new records; you will select an existing record to act as the parent record. Child records will be hidden from view after the merge is complete.
On the person or location change view, selecting two or more records will reveal a "merge records" button at the top of the table, on the left-hand side.
Clicking on the "merge records" button will reveal an interface that looks something like this:
The records that you selected will be shown in a list.
The same records will also be listed in the "merge into" dropdown widget. Select one record to be the parent record.
When you are satisfied with your choice, click "save." All of the relations from the child record(s) will be transferred to the parent record, and the child record(s) will be hidden from view. You should be automatically redirected to the detail view for the parent record.
