Adding a new course
The course and investigator database makes a distinction between individual courses (specific events in time and space) and course groups (a collection or series of related courses). This page describes how to add an individual course. Along the way, you will also have the option to create a new course group, if necessary.
Start from the course list view
Click on the "+ Create" button in the upper right corner of the screen.
Select a course group
You can search for a group by typing in the group input field.
When you select a course group, the icon on the right side should change to a check-mark.
Alternatively: create a new croup
If there is no group for the course you wish to add (e.g. a brand new course title not offered in previous years), enter the name of the group in the input field and click the "create" checkbox below it. This will create a new group entry in the database.
Click the "Select" button in the lower right corner to continue.
Enter course details
Enter the year in which the course occurred, and the name of the course. In many cases this will be the same as the course group name, followed by a year. For example: "Embryology 1991". In other cases, there may be a more specific name. For example, the course group "Advances in Mariculture" has a course in 1992 named "Advances In Mariculture: Techniques And Future Directions For Providing Marine Organisms For Biological Research 1992."
When you're happy with your entry, click the "Create" button in the lower right hand corner of the screen. You should be redirected to the detail view for your new course, where you can begin adding attendees to your course.
